OUR TEAM

JOHN CAVALIERO
Founder & Owner

With over 40 years of experience advising collectors and working with artists, galleries, and museums, John Cavaliero has collaborated on numerous Surrealist exhibitions globally and curated sixteen international museum exhibitions of Max Ernst sculptures.

As an independent dealer in the international art market specializing in Surrealist art, John owned and managed Cavaliero Fine Arts in New York and Inarco in Tokyo. He is a founding member of the Max Ernst Stiftung, responsible for constructing a museum dedicated to the artist's work in Brühl, Germany, and has acquired over 60 Max Ernst sculptures for the museum, serving on the board for nine years. John managed the Max Ernst estate inherited by Dorothea Tanning Ernst, coordinating legal and financial matters and negotiating with French authorities, resulting in significant donations to various museums.

DAVID CAVALIERO

David joined Cavaliero Fine Arts in 2014 as the second generation of the family business. He began by managing our extensive inventory of prints and editions, and he now collaborates with collectors, dealers, artists, and institutions on acquisitions and exhibitions for works of all types, while continuing the legacy and standards set by his father, John.

In additional to his role at Cavaliero Fine Arts, David maintains a studio practice as an artist, exhibiting his work in both the U.S. and abroad. David holds an MFA in Sculpture from Texas Christian University and a BA in English from Georgetown University.
